ABOUT
LSU Education Foudation

MISSION & HISTORY.

The LSU Education Foundation was founded on October 2, 2017 as a

non-profit educational foundation that is dedicated to uplifting and uniting underrepresented communities by empowering tomorrow's leaders. The foundation is committed to paving the way for educational advancement and leadership development for Latino students by providing growth opportunities for Latino high school and college students through scholarships, grants, and community development programming.

The purpose of this organization is to inspire community development through the empowerment of Latino youth. The Latino population is one of the fastest growing demographic groups in the United States. According to the Pew Research Center, the Latino population is projected to reach 132.8 million by 2060, accounting for roughly 31% of the total population. However, despite this growth, Latino students face significant barriers to accessing educational opportunities and achieving academic success. Many come from low-income families and may not have the resources or support they need to succeed in school. Additionally, Latino students are underrepresented in higher education, with only 14% of Latino adults holding a bachelor's degree or higher, compared to 33% of white adults. The LSU Education Foundation helps to bridge this gap by providing scholarships and grants to help students afford the costs of tuition, books, and other educational expenses. This financial assistance can make a significant difference in the lives of these students and help them achieve their educational goals.
